Best character combinations after OB54: new meta combos with Ray
Free Fire MAX gives you one active skill slot and three passive slots, so every combination on this page follows the same shape: one active character plus three passives that cover its weak spots. OB54, which landed on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, adjusted several character skills, and Ray, the game’s newest character (he arrived in OB53), is still settling into the meta. That means it is time to rethink your combos for rank push.
Everything below is our pick for ranked Battle Royale and Clash Squad, not an official recommendation. Treat each combo as a starting point and swap pieces to fit your own habits.
Balanced combo for ranked BR
Alok + Jota + Moco + Shirou. Alok’s healing plus movement speed is still the most reliable active skill in the game: it patches you up mid-fight and speeds up your rotation at the same time. Jota heals you a little on every gun hit and gives a bigger burst when you score a knockdown, so aggressive plays pay for themselves. Moco tags the enemies you hit, which turns every stray shot into information for your whole squad. Shirou marks whoever hits you and loads your first shot back at them with extra armor penetration, which wins the trades that mid-lobby fights turn into. This combo keeps you relevant in every situation, from a hot drop to a final circle with six squads alive.
Rusher combo for aggressive players
Chrono + Jota + Hayato + Moco. Chrono’s shield is a lifesaver during pushes, and the buff Chrono received in OB54 makes building around him easier to justify. He is the single active here; the other three are passives, as the slot rule demands. Hayato adds armor penetration as your HP drops, which rewards players who commit to a fight instead of backing off at half health. If you fight mostly at close range, try D-Bee in place of Hayato: D-Bee keeps your accuracy up while you move and shoot, which suits shotgun and SMG pushes.
Clash Squad combo
Skyler + Jota + D-Bee + Luqueta is our Clash Squad pick. Rounds are short, gloo walls decide most close fights, and Skyler’s burst breaks those walls faster than opponents can replace them. Luqueta adds maximum HP with every kill, up to 50 extra, and in Clash Squad’s small maps those kills come quickly. D-Bee lets you strafe in tight lanes without your crosshair falling apart.
Budget combo for free-to-play players
Wukong + Kelly + Moco + Hayato is our pick if you would rather not spend diamonds on Alok or Chrono. Wukong’s camouflage turns you into a bush, which buys escapes and cheeky repositions. Kelly’s sprint speed helps rotations, while Moco and Hayato add tagging and armor penetration. All four are long-standing characters, so most regular accounts already have some of them. Unlock characters with gold where you can, and save diamonds for skills you will actually equip.
Where does Ray fit?
Ray is a finisher, not a runner. His active skill marks the first enemy in a wide area in front of him, and once that enemy’s HP falls low enough, the skill knocks them down instantly; a successful knockdown resets the cooldown and gives Ray a short self-heal. That makes him a closer for squads that commit to fights. If you want to try him now, Ray + Jota + Hayato + Moco is our early lineup: Hayato’s armor penetration gets enemies into execute range, Moco keeps the target visible, and every knockdown Ray converts also triggers Jota’s burst heal. Treat it as unconfirmed for ranked BR for now. We will update this section once we have firmer ranked data.
Easiest combo for beginners
K + Jota + Shirou + Laura. If you own K, his EP recovery keeps you topped up with no timing skill needed: no button to press at the perfect moment, no cooldown to track. Laura tightens your accuracy while aiming down sights, which forgives the spray habits most new players carry. One thing worth knowing: the game gives you a single active slot plus three passives, so Alok and K can never run together. Pick whichever active suits you and build the passives around it.
Why these work after OB54
OB54 brought Weapon Awakening and skill boosts for 8 characters, and that balance list explains most of our choices. Chrono and Olivia received buffs, which is why Chrono anchors our rush combo and why support players should keep Olivia on their radar. On the other side, Nero, Oscar, Maro and Nikita were nerfed. Maro’s bonus damage over distance was cut, so he drops out of our long-range picks entirely. Remember that no combo fixes bad aim, though: skills set your floor, your crosshair sets your ceiling. Our guide on improving your headshot rate covers that side of the game.
